1778 - ' A View of the Whale-Fishery, and the manner of Killing Bears near the Coast of Greenland '
Scene depicting several ships and numerous longboats with men harpooning whales.  Icebergs float in the sea.  On the shore a small group of hunters are attacking a Polar Bear, others are shooting at bears from a boat.
A fine antique copper engraving taken from 'The Complete System of Geography Being a Description of All the Countries, Islands, Cities, Chief Towns, Harbours....of the Known World' by Charles Theodore Middleton.
CONDITION: Original copper engraved print in excellent condition with large margins, perfect and ready for mounting and framing.
SIZE: Overall size including margins approximately 35cm x 22cm.
