1943 An original Vintage LONDON TRANSPORT UNDERGROUND LINES Map with the early HARRY BECK design.
In this version of the Underground map H C Beck uses circles to indicate interchange stations. The 60 degree angles used on the previous edition of the diagram have been redrawn as 45 degree lines or changed to vertical or horizontal lines, these include the Northern end of the Northern line, the District line between Mark Lane and Whitechapel and the District line to Richmond and Wimbledon. Proposed extensions are not shown on this edition and the Waterloo & City Railway is shown as a red line with black edging. The map includes the "Middle Circle", an underground train line using the West London Railway between Latimer Road and Earls Court, passing through Uxbridge Road and Addison Road. The line closed in 1940 following bomb damage. It was not reopened until 2008 as part of the Overground network.
