A stunning and spectacular Bird's Eye view of the City of Paris taken from a painting by Jean-Jacques Champin (1796-1860) and published in 1848 as a supplement to the Illustrated London News - the weekly newspaper. This example has been expertly hand coloured.

Overall size of print is 34 inches x 19 inches (100cm x 48cm) with large margins, perfect for mounting.
CONDITION: These panoramic prints were bound in and folded in several places in order to fit within the newspaper size. So they always comes with the numerous folds in the paper. This example had some rather crude restoration at the bottom margin for the word 'ILLUSTRATED' where the 'T' has been drawn onto a new piece of paper to fill in a missing piece. Also at the bottom left corner, a piece of the margin has been replaced. Otherwise, this is a good example of this rare print. If you look at the images, you will see some naturally occurring wear and tear, but once mounted and framed, will be a beautiful showpiece.
