1792 "A new Pocket Plan of LONDON WESTMINSTER and SOUTHWARK with all the Adjacent Buildings. Also, a correct List of upwards of 300 Hackney Coach Fares - Printed & Sold by Darton and Harvey, Gracechurch Street, London 1792".
The publishers, William Darton & Joseph Harvey, were Quakers who specialised in Quaker works, especially for children, Darton appears to have also been a cartographer as many extant maps are attributed to him. The bottom of the map lists Hackney coach fares from and to various locations throughout London. London map makers were encouraged to include fixed Hackney rates and sometimes, waterman rates, as both groups were known to overcharge. The fares shown were not inexpensive. (todays values £20 for 2sh). Original outline hand colour with the City of London area highlighted in Red.
