1762 - A very large original copper engraved map titled
"An Accurate Map of the County of Surrey divided into its Hundreds; drawn from late Surveys and Illustrated with various additional Improvements"
Finely engraved map by Emanuel Bowen showing the County of Surrey. Decorative Cartouche at the top left with dedication cartouche at the bottom left. London is shown on the other side of the River Thames and Brixton, Peckham, Camberwell & Clapham all shown in detail on this map as part of Surrey. This map was produced for the inclusion in the Large English Atlas which was the finest county atlas produced in the 18th century. Clearly engraved with panels of text in the areas surrounding each county describing the commerce and the state of the principal towns and cities.
Outstanding condition with central fold as issued and later hand colouring. Overall size approx 74cm x 57cm including margins. Blank on verso.
