1743 - A rare and early original engraved map titled: ' Inghilterra '
A fine antique engraved map with hand colour.
Approximate overall size is 34cm x 40cm including the margins.
This map is taken from the 'Atlas Novissimo del Sigr. Gugielmo de L'Isle' and Giambattista Albrizzi (1698-1777) was the cartographer. Albrizzi was a publisher, patron, collector and one of the great figures of eighteenth-century Venetian intellectual and cultural life. Although Venice had been the centre of the European map trade during the sixteenth century, its importance was greatly diminished in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as Dutch and German publishers became increasingly dominant.
