c1597/8 - An original engraved map titled: " DESCRITTIONE DELLA. MARCA DANCONA GIA DETTA IL PICENO - MARCA ANCONAE OLIM PICENTUM "
A map of Central Italy, showing Ancona region including the city and seaport of Ancona in the Marche region. Girolamo Porro engraved the map in 1596 for Magini's edition of Ptolemy's Geographia which appeared in Ptolmey's 'GEOGRAFIA CIOE DESCRITTIONE UNIVERSALE DELLA TERRA' and this being from the 1st Edition in Latin.
Excellent condition measuring approximately 19.5cm x 28.5cm with later hand colour.
