A fine & rare large engraved Sea Chart map showing Penryn River out to the coastline showing Truro, Tresillian, and out to Penryn, Falmouth & St Mawes. Inset map of Helford Sound, with its own Compass Rose. To the right two coastal profiles which appear at the mount of the Falmouth River and Helford River. Further Compass Rose & decorative cartouche showing Fishermen and local rural trades.
This map was created by the maritime Cartographer, Captain Greenvile Collins. Collins was an officer of the Royal Navy and prominent hydrographer who was commissioned by King Charles II in 1676 and appointed by Samuel Pepys (then secretary to the Admiralty) to chart the Coasts of Great Britain and the result was his 'Great Britains Coasting Pilot'.
