" A New and Exact Survey of the RIVER DEE or CHESTER-WATER is most humbly dedicated and presented to his most sacred Maj.y WILLIAM the III King of Great Britain and Ireland by Ct G Collins Hydrographer to the King"

A fine example of this rare large engraved Sea Chart map showing the coastal region from the River Dee up to the North Wales coastline and also from the River Mersey and the Lancashire border. Compass Rose, Rhumb Lines and decorative cartouche

This map was created by the maritime Cartographer, Captain Greenvile Collins. Collins was an officer of the Royal Navy and prominent hydrographer who was commissioned by King Charles II in 1676 and appointed by Samuel Pepys (then secretary to the Admiralty) to chart the Coasts of Great Britain and the result was his 'Great Britains Coasting Pilot'.
