"YARMOUTH and the SANDS about it is most Humbly Presented and Dedicated to his grace HENRY DUKE OF NORFOLK by Ct G Collins Hydrographer to the King"

A fine example of this rare large engraved Sea Chart map showing the coastal region around Yarmouth and out to the sand banks. Compass Roses, Rhumb Lines and decorative cartouche illustrated with local fishermen and mermaids

This map was created by the maritime Cartographer, Captain Greenvile Collins. Collins was an officer of the Royal Navy and prominent hydrographer who was commissioned by King Charles II in 1676 and appointed by Samuel Pepys (then secretary to the Admiralty) to chart the Coasts of Great Britain and the result was his 'Great Britains Coasting Pilot'.
