A very fine example of Nicholas Sanson's double hemisphere map of the world, showing California as an Island, a blank Northwest Coast of America and a large Terre de leso. The Great Lakes are all open in the west. Only a portion of Australia and New Zealand's coastlines have been explored and the prospect of a massive Southern continent is left open.
