1945 A fine original vintage LONDON TRANSPORT UNDERGROUND LINES map with the design by Harry Beck.
The map shows the "Middle Circle" railway as part of the Metropolitan & District Line connecting Latimer Road and Earl's Court via Uxbridge Road and Addison Road, although the line had been suspended during the Blitz (and is noted as such on the map) and was not re-opened (as part of the Overground) until 2008; the Metropolitan line extends as far as Aylesbury (the line beyond Amersham was transferred to British Rail in 1961); the District Line spur to South Acton (closed 1959); the Northern Line City section from Old Street to Finsbury Park via Essex Road (closed 1975); The Piccadilly Line spur to Aldwych (closed 1994), although the station is noted to be closed; The line between Baker Street and Stanmore is shown as a branch of the Bakerloo line, as it was until it became part of the Jubilee line upon its opening in 1979.
The reverse side shows the 'CONNECTIONS WITH MAIN LINE TERMINI'.
Overall size approximately 23cm x 15cm with two folds, as issued.
